{"id":637,"date":"2009-02-04T21:32:20","date_gmt":"2009-02-04T12:32:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/?p=637"},"modified":"2009-02-04T21:32:20","modified_gmt":"2009-02-04T12:32:20","slug":"twitter-identities-libsmatter-and-sirexkathryn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/2009\/02\/04\/twitter-identities-libsmatter-and-sirexkathryn\/","title":{"rendered":"Twitter identities @libsmatter and @sirexkathryn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m not sure that I need lots of words to explain the difference between my new public Twitter account and my existing personal Twitter account&#8230;the profile\u00a0 photos do the job very well.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-639\" title=\"owltwitter\" src=\"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/owltwitter.png\" alt=\"owltwitter\" width=\"116\" height=\"112\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/libsmatter\">Libsmatter<\/a> can be viewed by everyone and is an extension of this blog. It is for interesting links and my conference\/event liveblogging. I&#8217;m happy for anyone to follow this one.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s partly so that I don&#8217;t flood people who follow @sirexkathryn every time I go to an event. If it gets too noisy you can always use <a href=\"http:\/\/twittersnooze.com\/\">twittersnooze<\/a> to stop getting updates from libsmatter for a day or so.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll probably still use CoverItLive for events, as it can be set up to automatically be updated by up to ten Twitter accounts. That way people who are following an event via Twitter don&#8217;t have to keep updating the screen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/libsmatter\">Click here to follow libsmatter<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p>Sirexkathry<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-638\" title=\"blaaaah\" src=\"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/blaaaah-300x283.png\" alt=\"blaaaah\" width=\"125\" height=\"121\" \/>n is my protected account\u00a0 that you can request to follow, but I need to OK it before you can see my updates.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a comfy place where I metaphorically sit on the sofa and kick of f my\u00a0\u00a0 shoes and laugh and learn from the twitter people I follow.<\/p>\n<p>I first made my account private to stop google indexing the inane and silly stuff I was saying. I don&#8217;t mind appearing inane and silly, but I want to have a google-free space to do it.<\/p>\n<p>If you request to follow me, then this is how I filter the request. It&#8217;s not hard and fast though. I may say no on a whim or because I am feeling grumpy or because I make a mistake . Feel free to email me if you want an explanation : sirexkat at gmail dot com.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>If you are an obvious spammer &#8211; no<\/li>\n<li>If you follow more than 2000 people but have under 100 followers &#8211; no<\/li>\n<li>If you have a gazabillion followers\u00a0 and follow as many &#8211; no, I want some kind of conversation<\/li>\n<li>If you have not updated in the last three days or so &#8211; no, I want some kind of conversation<\/li>\n<li>If I have heard of you &#8211; it&#8217;s more likely I will say yes<\/li>\n<li>If you are West Australian, involved in the web industry, education or librarianship &#8211; it&#8217;s more likely I will say yes<\/li>\n<li>If you are in libraryland and you work with me , are in Western Australia, or know people I work with &#8211; no is more likely &#8211; I feel a bit selfconscious when it gets that close to work<\/li>\n<li>If your last lot of tweets seem funny, witty, interesting\u00a0 &#8211; it&#8217;s more likely I will say\u00a0 yes<\/li>\n<li>If we have met in real life and I felt some kind of connection &#8211; it&#8217;s very likely I will say yes<\/li>\n<li>If you\u00a0 seem\u00a0 to be saying things that someone else in my twitterstream is also saying, but without adding anything else &#8211; no is more likely<\/li>\n<li>If you are saying utterly mundane drivel- if it is interesting and detailed then it\u00a0 doesn&#8217;t make yes or no more likely<\/li>\n<li>If you have no photo &#8211; much more likely I will say no.<\/li>\n<li>If you link to your website and I like what I see &#8211; very, very likely I will say yes<\/li>\n<li>If from your profile I can see no reason why you would want to follow me, then no is more likely.<\/li>\n<li>Protected accounts are OK, as long as I can find out enough info about you to run you through the filter.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m not sure that I need lots of words to explain the difference between my new public Twitter account and my existing personal Twitter account&#8230;the profile\u00a0 photos do the job very well.
