Every so often I&#8217;ll stop what I&#8217;m doing, walk to my desk, close one eye and rock from side to side. No, I&#8217;m not <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stimming\">stimming<\/a>.  I&#8217;m just marvelling my  little dragon friend below, and how his head follows me as I move. It is cut from a single piece of paper, and has only one part. It involves about  2 minutes of cutting and sticking.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blogger\/blogger\/5423\/2997\/1600\/CIMG3316.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blogger\/blogger\/5423\/2997\/200\/CIMG3316.jpg\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe movement is all optical illusion, based on our brains expecting certain objects to look a certain way &#8211; like noses to point outward, not inward. It was created for the <a href=\"http:\/\/math.berkeley.edu\/%7Eberlek\/cgt\/gardner.html\">Gathering for Gardner<\/a> event in 1998. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Martin_Gardner\">Martin Gardner<\/a>, born in 1914 wrote the &#8220;Mathematical Games&#8221; column in Scientific American from 1956 to 1981.<\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t think you want to make your own, then watch the video <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grand-illusions.com\/opticalillusions\/dragon_illusion\/\">here<\/a>.
