{"id":4647,"date":"2017-06-30T21:11:25","date_gmt":"2017-06-30T13:11:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/?p=4647"},"modified":"2017-06-30T21:11:25","modified_gmt":"2017-06-30T13:11:25","slug":"so-much-more-still-to-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/2017\/06\/30\/so-much-more-still-to-say\/","title":{"rendered":"So much more still to say &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230; and nothing stopping me from saying it here after #blogjune has finished &#8230; but I suspect that I will pipe down a bit for a while.<\/p>\n<p>I still haven&#8217;t responded to Paul&#8217;s discussion of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paulhagon.com\/2017\/06\/29\/content-as-experience\/\">Content as Experience<\/a> &#8230; in which I would argue that if libraries are looking at &#8220;competition&#8221; or what is a similar experience to our book-lending service, then we have to compare it to other cultural-consumption experiences, rather than considering it mainly as physical stock-movement. &#8220;We give it to them for free&#8221; shows misunderstanding of the costs of access to get to the physical &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4649 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_0714-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_0714-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_0714-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_0714-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And I wanted to ask whether everyone thought that &#8220;<em>Kindness as a motivator for library work<\/em>&#8221; was a limp and wishy-washy navel-gazing potential PhD topic. (Explanation: something techie would go stale in the 6 years it would take me to finish part-time, and actually when I think about what I really care about, what I am passionate about, it probably is kindness&#8230;).<\/p>\n<p>And to compliment <a href=\"https:\/\/restructuregirl.wordpress.com\/\">Ruth<\/a> on her quiet and discreet (yes, it is you I am talking about&#8230;) efforts to give encouraging comments on almost every post I visited on other people&#8217;s #blogjune posts.<\/p>\n<p>And mention how much I enjoy <a href=\"http:\/\/bibliothequebound.blogspot.com.au\/\">Andrew&#8217;s <\/a>thoughts about ..well, everything. And <a href=\"http:\/\/bibliothequebound.blogspot.com.au\/\">snail&#8217;s<\/a> reviews of films AND snails. And that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flexnib.com\/2017\/06\/30\/still-more-time-travel\/\">Con&#8217;s post today is almost the same as what I would have written<\/a>, except she did it first. And then feel like I have missed out on several people who did mighty jobs and made interesting posts who I DID read, but just did not mention here&#8230;who are from the next generation of up and coming library communicators, and reassure me that the on-going conversation is in good hands.<\/p>\n<p>Or to ponder why, with the best intentions, I think I am unlikely to be able to keep up a &#8220;post once a week&#8221; for a year challenge &#8230;. even though #blogjune is really equal to over half of the effort involved.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230; and nothing stopping me from saying it here after #blogjune has finished &#8230; but I suspect that I will pipe down a bit for a while.
