{"id":331,"date":"2007-09-18T07:22:21","date_gmt":"2007-09-17T23:22:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/2007\/09\/18\/podcamp-in-perth\/"},"modified":"2007-09-18T07:22:21","modified_gmt":"2007-09-17T23:22:21","slug":"podcamp-in-perth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/2007\/09\/18\/podcamp-in-perth\/","title":{"rendered":"Podcamp in Perth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Couple of months back, a mob over East announced that they wanted to hold a podcamp &#8211; an unconference for people who create new media &#8211; podcasts, net video, blogs etc. So, they set up a voting competition to determine the venue of the first Australian podcamp.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/perth.podcamp.info\/wp-content\/themes\/enews\/images\/header.gif\" width=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think they expected the crowd from the West &#8211; probably still high on the rush from <a href=\"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/2007\/07\/01\/what-do-you-do-at-an-unconference-perth-barcamp-2007\/\" target=\"_blank\">Perth barcamp<\/a> &#8211; to  have such a strong showing. In the face of the results &#8211;<strong>Perth &#8211; 152 votes, <\/strong><span>Sydney &#8211; 84 votes, <\/span><span>Melbourne &#8211; 33 votes, <\/span><span>Brisbane &#8211; 8 votes, <\/span><span>Adelaide &#8211; 6 vote &#8211; they had no alternative but to honour the commitment and bring Australia&#8217;s first podcamp to Perth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Details so far are sketchy, but watch the <a href=\"http:\/\/perth.podcamp.info\/\" target=\"_blank\">Podcamp Perth<\/a> website as they come in. Here&#8217;s some info:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>PodCamp Perth is the new media community UnConference that helps connect people interested in blogging, podcasting, social networks, video on the net, and new media together to learn, share, and grow their new media skills. Hey, that&#8217;s two days&#8230;does this mean there will be a real camp where we get to stay overnight this time?
