I am tweeting today from the State Library of Western Australia’s Day of Hack<\/a> event. The event hashtag is #libhackwa<\/a> . I am pulling these tweets and those from @libsmatter<\/a> into a CoverItLive window below.<\/p>\n

Here is a description of the event:<\/p>\n

The national Libraryhack competition invites people to create mashups and apps using publicly available and reusable data. Re-mix library datasets and create new content, or re-purpose them and build new apps, and be in the running to win a great prize. The datasets for use can be found at: http:\/\/libraryhack.org\/data\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Come to the State Library for a taster<\/em> session and start thinking about what you might create to be able to enter the national competition. We\u2019ll have mashing experts and specialists from the Australian Web Industry Association on hand to help you navigate your way through the wealth of info released for mashups.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The National and State Libraries of Australasia’s Reimagining Libraries initiative<\/a> has a vision to:<\/p>\n

In collaboration<\/strong>, the National, State and Territory Libraries of Australia and New Zealand will become leaders<\/strong> in empowering people<\/strong> to create, discover, use and transform<\/strong> our collections, content and global information resources.<\/p>\n

There are ten separate projects to achieve this vision. Project number 5, lead by the State Library of Queensland, is described as:<\/p>\n

Community created content<\/em> – identifying and implementing a framework and tool set for everyone to create and transform online content<\/p>\n

One element of this project in the Library Hack<\/a> initiative. Anna Raunik from the State Library presented a paper at the recent ALIA Information Online Conference that explained the ideas and implementation of the project in the LibraryHack project.<\/p>\n
