{"id":167,"date":"2007-02-02T22:50:54","date_gmt":"2007-02-02T13:50:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/2007\/02\/02\/obsolete-librarians\/"},"modified":"2007-02-02T22:50:54","modified_gmt":"2007-02-02T13:50:54","slug":"obsolete-librarians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/librariansmatter.com\/blog\/2007\/02\/02\/obsolete-librarians\/","title":{"rendered":"Obsolete Librarians?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Peta, over at <a href=\"http:\/\/inn0vate.blogspot.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Innovate<\/a> has a great post today summarising all the good reasons why it&#8217;s great to be a librarian and why we will one day rule the world, <a href=\"http:\/\/inn0vate.blogspot.com\/2007\/02\/rumours-of-our-imminent-demise-are.html\" target=\"_blank\">Rumours of our imminent demise are greatly exaggerated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I guess that <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rod_Serling\" target=\"_blank\">Rod Serling<\/a> couldn&#8217;t have known that when he wrote &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Obsolete_Man\" target=\"_blank\">The Obsolete Man<\/a>&#8220;, which aired as a Twilight Zone episode in 1961. Although I must say that I thought it prophetic when the obsolete librarian told the state that it now had everything &#8220;categorized, organized and tagged&#8221;.
