Want me to pick you up an All-Purpose Mosquito-Killer Bat?

No? You sure?

How  about a mini vacuum cleaner powered by your USB port?

….or maybe a roll up flexible keyboard?

That’s just three of the gadgets I discovered at Sim Lim here in Singapore this afternoon. Check out my flickr set for more: Gadgets at Sim Lim Singapore October 2008 .

I’m here to attend Bridging Worlds 2008 Conference:: knowing • learning • sharing run by the National Library Board of Singapore. Just check out the lineup – there are so many excellent library thinkers that I can’t list them all.  I’m sooo excited.

I’m not lonely because my kids each gave me a Lego minifig to keep me company while I’m travelling – on the condition that I let them know via Flickr what the minifigs have been up to

Haha, those roll-up flexible keyboards are awful! I got one when I bought a certain sci-fi series on DVD, I used it for a while, but the keys (especially on the outer edges) aren’t really sensitive enough for most “normal” typists. Plus, my cat likes to sleep on mine, and since it’s rubber when he sheds it sticks, I had to clean it pretty much every day! Suffice to say, it’s now back in its tube in the cupboard, the novelty has well and truly worn off…

    <3 Mosquito Bat!

Except mine was called a “Mosquito Bad” and one of the instructions, printed on the back, was “Do not lick dead fly from bat surface” :) Classic!

I have a flexible keyboard… they are brilliant for mini-pc’s (fold ‘em up and stick it in the bag along with the mouse and Shuttle).

Actually, I wouldn’t mind the usb vac…. perfect for cleaning the dust out of the pc’s innards.

The mosquito killer looks amazing, but I don’t think many of our ornaments would survive us chasing mozzies around the house with it :)

I have a mosquito bat in Australia and it is amasing and almost use it every day. Just wondering what’s stopping it coming into the country as I think it would make great presents.
