btw by whole website I mean http://library.swantafe.wa.edu.au - we are fortunate to have control of the content AND appearance - but interaction is crying out as a feature if I had time and the blessing to do it

Yes this is a good topic. Liasing with IT re access to our databases- and having an account on a server, are skills that lend themselves to use. Eg in the Blogger site http://speakswan.blogspot.com - we were able to host the podcast & the word document on our own server.

Id like to interact with de.licio.us bppkmarks with the actual website too!
Or if we cant or havent got permission at least get some input from students and other staff members - I dont want to do the whole web site ANYMORE!

I can think of another reason for a library to provide hosting services: Trust. I posted an entry a while back about how I'd love to see a library generated community place to create web content. I'm guessing a lot of people with something to say may not trust blogger, but might trust the library.

Thanks for the example of a University actually doing this. I think it could work at a public library too.
