Andrew, I thought you'd spot the potential gaming spaces. The idea of serving all our community's library needs is interesting. Librarians were having the same kinds of discussions when we decided whether it was OK to stock videos or add links to web sites in our catalogues. No doubt, we'll keep having them.

Evie...who has broken the bounds from Second Life and into my blog....as long as I don't see a comment from Rocky Vallejo I think all is OK with the RL/SL barrier. I understand that you were awake far, far too many hours playing....so you must have had lots of fun. Again, wish I'd been there.

I was lucky enough to attend the Gaming, Learning & Libraries Symposium in Chicago, and let me tell you, it was AWESOME (a word that I rarely use). A majority of the sessions were amazing, insightful, and get this, FUN. Wish you could have been there too!

I agree Kathryn. I also think that academic libraries should be recognising the fact the for their students and staff they are also the community library. How many of your students also belong to the Melville City library? I would think not many. So why not have a DVD collection, recent release fiction etc. And on the gaming front - why not have some lan parties in the holidays! That new space downstairs would be tailor-made for that ;)
