Thanks Peter.

I did the same as you..pressed that "switch to blogger beta" button and then kicked myself.

The script I used was only published on 22 December, but it still took me quite a bit of hunting to find it. I'd actually sat down to do the painful workaround that would have taken hours, and had one more search. Luckily I found Ady's script.

With a group blog, I think you are right in concluding that if it's not broke you shouldn't fix it. If this hadn't worked out, I could easily switch back - not so easy with a group.

If you are still unsure, maybe it would be worth setting aside 4 hours or so and seeing how far you got and then deciding? You'd learn new skills even if you don't end up going live. Or..you could use the 4 hours to go off to the beach and hang out with your loved ones instead. :)

Hi Kathryn,

Thanks for sharing the info on how you migrated from blogger beta to wordpress. Just before I sat down to try migrating Library Garden over to WordPress I was prompted to switch to beta and , without thinking, switched. What a big mistake!

I quickly realized that if I had just left the Garden in good old kludgey Blogger format the migration would have been a snap. I started searching all over for good instructions on how to do the beta migration but came up empty. I figured it would be a coupla few days before the web started to populate with scripts and instructions. But at this point, I'm seriously thinking about just sticking with Blogger, as the beta version actually took care of the two biggest problems we were having: importing and positioning images, and cutting/pasting text from Word.

No final decisions, but my leisurely week of vacation is almost over, and I'm inclined to leave well enough alone. If ain't broke any more (and it appears ain't) why fix it?

BTW, I just read your comments over at Creating Passionate Users. I was tickled to see your name as I scrolled through.

Anyway, congrats on a job well done with the new platform. Looks great! And thanks again for sharing the script and your step-by-step process. I'm sure this is going to help out a lot of people.

Wishing you a very Happy New Year,

Thanks Steve.

You're talking to a Queen of Haphazard Blog Setup.

When we set up <a href="http://librariesinteract.info" rel="nofollow">librariesinteract.info</a> in July, we spent a weekend choosing the domain name and host, registering it, installing it, choosing and setting up the template ...and then went live.

We then spent the next month thrilled by the reception it received, and paddling like ducks under water to add and amend to the template with the help of some more techie people on our team.

Taught me a lesson, but I don't think it made too much difference to how useful the blog was.
